Zell Hodges Smith

Dobson Mrs. Zell Brooks Hodges Smith, age 87, of Eagle Bay Lane, passed away Monday, March 10, 2008 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Smith was born November 4, 1920 in Alleghany County to Jack Andrew & Ella Crouse Brooks. Mrs. Smith was retired from Perry Manufacturing and was a member of Rocky Ford Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Gragy Garvey Hodges; six brothers and sisters. Survivors include: six sons, R.P. Hodges and wife Colene of Dobson, Sonny Hodges and wife Linda of State Road, Roger Hodges and wife Katherine of Jonesville, Leonard Hodges and Larry Hodges both of Dobson, David Smith and wife Patty of Elkin; one sister, Mary Wood of State Road; ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Mickey Brooks and Rev. Kenny Wood. Burial will follow at Flat Top Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
