Cory Robert Stapleton 38 lifetime resident of St. Maries, ID. Died July 4, 2011 at his home. He was born December 22, 1972 to Dan and Debra Willard Stapleton at Spokane, WA. He grew up in St. Maries where he was active in Little League and Babe Ruth baseball programs. He was also a member of "Marz's Mob" basketball program. He graduated from St. Maries High School with the class of 1991 where he was All State in Football and Baseball as well as All League in Basketball. Following graduation, he attended North Idaho College. He married Shelly Sines on Aug. 14, 1993 at St. Maries. He then attended L.C.S.C. At Lewiston, ID. He began working part-time for the St. Maries River Railroad when he was in High School. He began his career full time with them in 1994. He was divorced in 2005. He was an awesome dad and coach. He coached all his children who were the love of his life in sports. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well. He is survived by his former wife Shelly of St. Maries. His son's Jordan, Brandon and Brett Stapleton at home with their mother. His daughter Kayla Stapleton of St. Maries, ID. Also surviving are his parents Dan and Sue Stapleton and Debbie and Kelly Smith all of St. Maries, ID as well as grandparents Donna and Herman Miller of St.Maries. Also surviving are step-brothers Lee and Jeremy Bergquist and their wives. Cory is also survived by many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandparents Dean and Marguerite Stapleton. A private interment at Woodlawn Cemetery preceded a Celebration of his life on July 8, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the St. Maries Church of the Nazarene with Fr. Timothy Ritchey officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow the services at the St. Maries Eagles Lodge.
