Georgia Absher Smith, passed away on a beautiful sunny day in the loving arms of her family on Monday, November 2, 2009. She left this earthly home to join her beloved husband, Joe, never to suffer or be lonesome again. Georgia was born on January 16, 1937 to loving parents Carl and Erma Absher. She was reared in a Christian home with her parents, four sisters, and two brothers. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Dorothy Absher, Ann Luffman, Rose Absher, and Mabel Spicer, and a brother, Richard Absher. She is survived by her brother, Ronald Absher and wife Martha of Austin; sisters-in-law, Judy Wiles and husband Dale of Elkin, Margaret Dimmette and husband Bobby of Ronda, Arlene Johnson and husband David of Pinnacle; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Luffman of Austin and David Smith of State Road; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved. Georgia and Joe shared a loving home with their children and grandchildren. She is survived by daughter Shelia Couch and husband Phil of State Road; son, Bobby Smith and wife Sally of Pawleys Island, SC and son, Greg Smith of Jackson, NC. She is also survived by six grandsons who were the center of her world. Sean Couch of Charlotte, Matt Couch of State Road, Joel and Zann Smith of Murrell's Inlet, SC, Travis and Blake Smith of Yadkinville. Our mom left behind an eternal legacy of love, unselfishness and a will and determination to be the best you can be and do the best you can do. Her lasting legacy will sustain us for the rest of our days. She fought the noble fight with courage and grace that will be forever in our hearts.
