Elkin Mr. Harvey Willie Barker, age 75, of Barker Road, passed away Monday, July 23, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Barker was born October 15, 1931 in Wilkes County to Thomas & Ida Luffman Barker. Mr. Barker was retired from Elkin Furniture and was a member of Oak Level Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Francis Barker; three half sisters, Carrie Lee Wendell, Connie Owens, Brettie Brown. Survivors include: his wife, Eva Brooks Barker of the home; two sons Mike Barker and wife Susan of Roaring River, Ricky Barker of the home; two brothers, Walter Barker and wife Carol of Ronda, Gaither Barker and wife Carol of Elkin; three sisters, Edna Soots and husband Joby, Hallie Soots and husband Paul, Helen Stroud all of Ronda; two half sisters, Dorothy Adams of Elkin, Margie Lyons and husband Lester of Traphill; one grandson, Ethan Wayne Barker of Wadesboro. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Level Baptist Church by Rev. James Hall. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
