State Road Mrs. Connie Hinson Nance, age 80, of Poplar Springs Road, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2005 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born July 27, 1924 in Surry County to Dallas & Kate Collins Hinson. Mrs. Nance was a homemaker and currently attended Elkin First Baptist Church. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church where she formerly was a choir member, Sunday school teacher and secretary for BTU. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Brady Nance; two sisters, Ileene Hinson, Faye Eldridge; a brother, John D. Hinson; a granddaughter, Lelia Kay Nance. Survivors include: two sons, Dallas Nance and wife Priscilla of Clemmons, Eldon Nance and wife Beth of State Road; a daughter, Melba Nance of the home; two brothers, Esker Hinson and wife Margaret, Leon Hinson, all of State Road; three sisters, Blenda Wagoner of Thurmond, Dorla Wagoner and husband Harold Lee of Elkin, Jane Merritt and husband Paul of State Road; six grandchildren, Paula Nance, Pamela Coleman and husband David, Mantle Nance and wife Sally, Tommy Nance and wife Alisa, John Nance and wife Paige, Matthew Nance and wife Melanie; seven great grandchildren, James Nance, Joseph Nance, Chloe Coleman, Tessa Coleman, Jackson Nance, Quest Aldridge and Zion Aldridge. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2005 at First Baptist Church of Elkin at 4:00 p.m. by Dr. Bill Johnson and Rev. Rebecca Husband Maynard. Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
