Elkin Mrs. Mary Lucille Terry Collins Taylor, age 77, of Freemont Lane, Elkin, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Taylor was born May 9, 1927 in Smyth County, Va. to Thomas T. & Nannie Virginia Harris Terry. Mrs. Taylor was retired from Chatham Manufacturing. She was of the Baptist faith and she was a great singer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Houston Roosevelt Taylor; three brothers, Raymond Terry, Sherman Terry and Charles Terry; two sisters, Charlotte Taylor and Nell Cox. Survivors include: two sons, Dewey E. Collins and wife Lori of Mechanicsville, Va, Thomas William "Billy" Taylor and wife Sheela of State Road; two daughters, Sherry Neely and husband Howie of Ronda, Linda Tester and husband Lynn of Elkin; a sister, Elsie Carter of Elkin; twelve grandchildren, Dewey Allen Collins, Melinda Driskill, Anita Welch, Christina Smith, William Edward Taylor, Thomas Allen Taylor, Howard E. "Hank" Neely, Stephanie Michelle Neely, Michael Ethan Neely, Kimberly Dawn Lowe, Bradley Houston Lowe and Billy Allen Tester; seven great grandchildren, Dewey Brandon Collins, Kasey Lynn Collins, Kayla Camryn Driskill, Chance Hamilton Driskill, Breanne Welch, Turner Welch and Aislinn Welch; special friends, Grace Couch of Roaring River, Wanda Young of Traphill, Annette Burchette of Jonesville, Ann Bauguess of State Road, Betty Cole of Warsaw, Va. and many other special friends. A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Shoaly Branch Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Gwyn Anderson. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
