Ronda Mr. William Parmalee Byrd, age 71, of Factory Street, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Byrd was born March 21, 1934 in Wilkes County to Tyra Vaughn & Dinah Chambers Byrd. Mr. Byrd retired from Chatham Manufacturing after 32 ½ years of service. He was a member of Ronda Baptist Tabernacle and he played and sang in Gospel Groups for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Tyre Vaughn Byrd, Jr., and Horace Byrd; four sisters, Vallie Cothern, Mary Waddell, Lillie Truitt and Ethel Lyon. Survivors include: his wife, Ann Settle Byrd of the home; a stepdaughter, Trenda Macemore and husband Dr. Larry of Ronda; a sister, Lutricia Hurt of Elkin; two step grandchildren, Chris Macemore and Calvin Macemore; three nieces and eight nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Ronda Baptist Tabernacle by Rev. Johnny Arnold and Rev. Butch Holder. Burial will follow in the church cemetery and Dr. Larry Macemore will conduct the committal service. Mr. Byrd will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
