Bertie Ruth Sparks

July 29, 1930 — April 22, 2005

Traphill Mrs. Bertie Ruth Medley Sparks, age 74 of Walter Sparks Road, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Elkin Healthcare. Mrs. Sparks was born July 29, 1930 in Alleghany County to Thomas & Margie Carpenter Medley. Mrs. Sparks was a homemaker and a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Grover Sparks; a son, Kenneth Ray Sparks; two sisters, Rose Emma Caudle and Alma Caudle; two brothers, Johnny Mac Medley and Ernest Medley. Survivors include: three sons, Larry Sparks of Thurmond, Tommy Sparks and wife Becky of Elkin, Roger Sparks and wife Wanda of Traphill; four daughters, Wanda Childress and husband Don, Doris Bryant and husband Lloyd of State Road, Susie Finger and husband Bobby, Mary Rogers all of Elkin; two sisters, Eula Mae Parris of Gastonia, Clema Caudle of Sparta; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 24, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Welcome Home Baptist Church by Rev. Ricky Johnson and Rev. Tommy Collins. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mrs. Sparks will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin and at other times at the home of Mary Rogers 141 Pettyjohn Street, Elkin, NC 28621.
