Mr. Jack Bernard Couch, age 81 of State Road, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Couch was born January 30, 1930 in Surry County to King Voy and Cora Wall Couch. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserve for 25 years. Mr. Couch was a member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church, Elkin Masonic Lodge #454, and Surry County VFW. He was a past Sunday School Teacher, Scout Master, and enjoyed woodworking. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Genevieve Couch; son, Ronald Lee Couch; and brother, Robert Couch. Survivors include a son, Randy Gayle Couch and his wife Cindy of Jonesville; daughter, Vanessa Couch Moody and her husband Bobby of State Road; brothers, Bill Couch of Statesville and Tony Couch and his wife Betty of Yadkinville; grandchildren, Calvin Couch, C.J. Couch, Candice C. Groce and her husband Lane, Brittany Couch, Tyler Moody, Sarah Stephens, and Mikayla Stepehns; one great grandchild, Landis Groce. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in Elkin Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Tatum officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Elkin Valley Baptist Church. The family request that memorials be made to Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27107.
