Jonesville Mrs. Bertie Violet Hodges Johnson, age 84 of Rosa's Lane, passed away Monday, April 28, 2008 at Britthaven of Wilkesboro. Mrs. Johnson was born December 21, 1923 in Surry County to Virgil & Susan Thompson Hodges. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and a member of Island Ford Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Clayton Johnson; a daughter, Betty Johnson Rollins; a sister, Etheleen Craver. Survivors include: two sons, David Edgar Johnson, Sr. and wife Janet of Lexington, Donald Clayton Johnson and wife Sandra of Jonesville; two daughters, Rosa Lee Brock of Jonesville, Naomi Johnson Smith and husband James of Elkin; a stepdaughter, Lethia Hedrick and husband Richard of Lexington; a brother, James Hodges of Boonville; a sister, Velda Simmons of Jonesville; a son-in-law, Steve Rollins of Staley; twenty-seven grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Conard Hatfield and Rev. Randy Johnson. Burial will follow at Little Richmond Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
