Elkin Mrs. Louise Darnell Blackburn, age 79, of Johnson Ridge Road, passed away Monday, March 12, 2007 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Home. Mrs. Blackburn was born April 21, 1927 in Wilkes County to Everette & Mozelle Benge Darnell. Mrs. Blackburn was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and she was a past president of the Resident Counsel at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center where she was an active participant in basket weaving class and presented baskets that she had made for several of her family members. She was retired from Dr. Kophamer Chiropractic. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey L. Blackburn; a daughter, Vivian Wooten; two brothers, James Darnell and Arvil Darnell. Survivors include: a daughter, Brenda Kennedy and husband Van of Roaring River, Carolyn Norman and husband Burt of State Road; two brothers, Benny Darnell and wife Margaret, Bill Darnell and wife Judy all of Elkin; four grandchildren, Heather Kennedy, Van Kennedy, III, Brooke Kennedy, Christy Howlett and husband Sheldon; a great grandchild, Elligh Howlett; a sister-in-law, Doris Darnell of Elkin; a son-in-law, Hugh Wooten of Mesa, Arizona. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. J.P. Sizemore and Rev. James Hall. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday prior to the service from 12:30-2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home.
