Mabel Absher Spicer, age 77, of Austin-Little Mtn. Road passed away Monday, August 31, 2009 in Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Spicer was born March 20, 1932 in Wilkes County to Carl and Erma Watson Absher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Albert Spicer, daughter Kathy Spicer, sisters Ann Luffman and Rosa Lee Absher, and brother-in-law Joe Smith. Survivors include: A son, Leon Spicer & wife Becky of Jonesville. Daughters, Frances Walsh of Ronda, Wilma Ford of Jonesville, and Doris Cleary & husband Jerry of Elkin. A brother, Ronald Absher & wife Martha of Elkin. A brother-in-law, Kenneth Luffman of Elkin. A sister, Georgia Smith of Elkin. 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 11:00 am in Rachel Baptist Church with the Rev. Philip King, Rev. Tommy Nixon, and Rev. Leon Mikles officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:30pm Tuesday evening at Elkin Funeral Service.
