Mrs. Reba Settle Ross, 82 of Roaring River, passed away Monday, September 13, 2010 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Ross was born December 4, 1927 in Wilkes County to Cletus and Fancie Tucker Settle. She was a member of Benham Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and was the church secretary. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ross was preceded in death by her husband, Posey Ross; and two brothers, Ted Settle and Jerry Settle. She is survived by a son, Grayland Ross and wife Paula of Roaring River; five daughters, Patsy Holbrook of High Point, Gwenda Wagoner and husband Robert of N. Wilkesboro, Jerry Blackburn and husband Michael of Clover, SC, Gay Faw of Millers Creek, and Lynn Alexander and husband Frank of Elkin; two brothers, Don Settle and wife Dorothy of Wilkesboro and David Settle and wife Cathy of Elkin; two sisters, Ramona Jordan and husband Clifford of Elkin and Jean Settle, also of Elkin; ten grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Benham Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Reeves, Rev. Ted Combs, and Rev. Jason Wilkes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Elkin Funeral Service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Benham Baptist Church Building Fund, 5838 Austin Traphill Rd. Elkin, NC 28621. The family wishes to thank Dr. Faulk, the staff of Villages of Wilkes Special Care Unit, and the staff of Hugh Chatham Nursing Center for all their loving care shown to Mrs. Ross.
