Elkin Mr. Earnest Theodore Lawrance Dobson, age 69, of Veneer Street, Elkin, passed away Monday, March 9, 2009 at his home after an extended illness. He was born on February 5, 1940 to Harvey & Ada Dobson. He was a devoted husband, father and loved by all who knew him. Earnest was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, and Trustee. Earnest loved fishing, watching NASCAR racing, and the outdoors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, James, Calvin, Richard, Harvey Jr., and Leroy Dobson. Earnest leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife Tenna of the home, two daughters, Mrs. Pamela Richy Lomax Jr., of Elkin, Mrs. India Roger Smoot of Mocksville; two sons, Mr. Aaron Rita Dobson of Elkin, Mr. Mark Dobson of Dobson; one brother, Mr. Dewitt Katie Dobson of Dobson; two sisters, Magaline Boles of Elkin, Mrs. Betty Williams Hughs of Boonville; two grandsons, Daniel Dobson and Jay Lomax; four granddaughters, Crystal Dobson, Taylor Smoot, Kimothy Lomax and Melea Dobson; one great grandchild, Ja'Aura Fonville, three step grandchildren, Cory Reginald and Ryan Lytton; special nieces, Ms. Gay Dobson, Ms India Smith, Ms. Patricia Boles and Mrs. Brenda Speaks; special nephew, Mr. Wayne Boles; special friend, Missy Phillips, Host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. The family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to Hospice, Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Cancer Center caregiver, Candy. Remember me in joy and laughter as I will remember you all, if you can only remember me in tears then don't remember me at all. The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. at Pleasant Union Baptist Church in Dobson with the Rev. Jackson presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the church. Thank You The flowers that you sent that day, The cards you mailed along the way.
