Betty Jo Cooper

March 10, 1929 — July 4, 2006

Mrs. Betty Jo Cooper, age 77, of Roaring Gap Church Road, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Cooper was born March 10, 1929 in Wilkes County to Clifton & Connie Lewis Smith. Mrs. Cooper was retired from Sunbeam and was a member of Roaring Gap Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Bernice Land, Alene Bauguess and Nell Carter. Survivors include: her husband, Harold George Cooper, Sr. of the home; a son, Harold G. Cooper, Jr. and wife Cindy of Thurmond; two daughters, Patsy May and husband Mike of State Road, Deborah Royal and husband Glenn of Elkin; five grandchildren, Brad Royal and wife Traci, Amy R. Blevins and husband Daniel, Krista Macemore and husband Mark, Matthew Cooper and Colby Cooper; three great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Royal, Kendall Royal and Cole Macemore. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 7, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Roaring Gap Baptist Church by Rev. Russ Nixon and Rev. Ronnie McMillan. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Cooper will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
