Elkin Mr. Gregory Lynn Nixon, age 47, of Byrd's Curve Road, passed away Saturday, Julu 26, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Nixon was born December 27, 1960 in Surry County to Roy & Estelle Lyons Nixon. Mr. Nixon was of the Methodist Faith. Survivors include: His mother, Estelle Lyons and her husband Homer Collins of the home; four brothers, Dwayne Nixon and Gary Nixon of the home, Darrell Nixon and Doug Nixon of Elkin; a sister, Darlene Collins of Elkin; two half sisters, Betty Jean Woodle of Poplar Springs, Judy Combs and husband Dwayne of Raleigh; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special niece, Mikalah Patrick. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jerry Wilmoth and Rev. Amos Lyons. Burial will follow at Charity United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
