Howard Monroe Casey

August 31, 1933 — November 17, 2007

Mr. Howard Monroe Casey, age 74, of C. B. Eller School Road, Elkin passed away Saturday, November 17, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Mr. Casey was born August 31, 1933 in Wilkes County to John Young and Zilly Tucker Casey. Mr. Casey was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was retired from the Fiber Woven department at Chatham Manufacturing Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: John Casey, Russell Casey and Bill Tucker, and four sisters: Polly Vestal, Hazel Casey, Ruby Darnell and Irene Casey. Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Riggs Casey of the home, a daughter and son-in-law, Tina Casey Ward and husband Oral of Mount Airy, two sisters: Marie Swaim of Jonesville and Lorene Hinson of Elkin, six grandchildren: Matthew Turney, Heather Buckley, Summer Ward, Dustin Ward, Justin Ward and Heather Ward. Four great grandchildren: Brendon Buckley, Cheyanne Smith, Laken Lawson and Isabella Ward. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Jimmy Tucker and Rev. Danny Dodds. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, November 19, 2007 from 6-8 p.m., at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers: Memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice 401 Technology Lane Mount Airy, NC 27030.
