Jonesville Mr. George Lee Couch, Sr., age 70 of Spring Street, Jonesville passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Couch was born November 14, 1936 in Wilkes County to Walter Bartlett & Ollie Faye Benton Couch. Mr. Couch was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of several area bowling leagues. George was a member of East Elkin Full Gospel Church and he had a lifelong love of gospel music. He played the piano "by ear" for many quartets and churches using his talent to serve the Lord. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Ailene DeBorde. Survivors include: a son, George Lee Couch, Jr. and wife Sandra of Jonesville; two daughters, Jeannie Cohn and husband Dr. Jerry Cohn of Savannah, Ga., Ann Couch of Jonesville; a brother, Donald Couch and wife Brenda of State Road; a brother-in-law, Clifton DeBorde of Elkin; eight grandchildren, Cameron, Katie, and Will Cohn, Matthew Wyatt, Angel Couch, Marshall Jordan III, Tabatha and Mary Jordan. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Joe Pyles and Rev. Jerry Childress. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
