Elkin Mrs. Vera Ethel Marion, age 82 of NC Hwy. 268 passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at her residence. Mrs. Marion was born April 11, 1922 in Wilkes County to Will & Ada Cheek Pardue. Mrs. Marion was a member of East Elkin Full Gospel church and retired from Ronda Chair Factory. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert Pardue, Ansel Pardue and Marvin Pardue; a sister, Ada Evie Pardue; a stepson-in-law, Brady Riggs. Survivors include: her husband, Carlie Marion of the home; a son, Edward "Bud" Bauguess and wife Gladys of Elkin; a stepson, Kenneth Marion of Mt. Airy; four stepdaughters, Jessie Watson and husband Donald of Greensboro, Lola Riggs of Yadkinville; Gladys Bauguess and husband Edward of Elkin; Jo Nell Creed of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Paul Pardue of Benham; Colonel Pardue and wife Joyce of Lexington; 19 step grandchildren; 32 step great grandchildren; 4 step great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 18, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Spencer Edmonds, Rev. Jerry Childress, Rev. Jimmy Tucker and Martha Childress. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
