Dobson Mr. Ted Posey Garris, age 70, of Cody Trail, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Garris was born March 5, 1935 in Yadkin County to Luther & Virginia Johnson Garris. Mr. Garris was retired after 35 years at Waynes Farm. Mr. Garris had many loves in his life among them was the Lord and reading His word; family and friends because he never met a stranger; playing his guitar; pier fishing in which he has many plaques and awards from North and South Carolina; having friends and neighbors over for frequent fish fries when at Apache Camp Ground in South Carolina and BBQ Chicken Suppers at his home. He was a big man with an equally big heart. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Mr. Garris attended Friendship Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Garris; two sisters, Ella Ma and Dorothy. Survivors include: his wife, Tina Sloop Garris of the home; a son, Eddie Daye and wife Debbie of State Road; a daughter, Linda Daye Beach of Jonesville; two brothers, Leo Garris and wife Norma of Elkin, Perry Garris of Jonesville; five sisters, Genevive Wolfe and Geraldine Key both of Dobson; Martha Absher of Austin, Katie Darnell of State Road, Ellen Wilkins of Boonville; five grandchildren, Michael Daye, Stephanie Vestal, Shanna Brown, Suzanne Phillips and John Beach; six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 14, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church by Rev. Wesley Smith and Jimmy Sloop. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Garris will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
