Jonesville Mrs. Betty Joe Day Haynes, age 80, of Messick Road, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Haynes was born in Forsyth County, December 26, 1928 to Joe & Marybell Deal Day. Mrs. Haynes was retired from Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. She was a member of Jonesville First Baptist Church and The Heart & Soul Cancer Support Group. She was also a planning committee member with the Relay for Life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Haynes and a grandson, Matthew Paul. Survivors include: three daughters, Tommie Jo Paul and husband James of Beaufort, Libby Haynes of Jonesville, Giny Haynes and husband Chris of Hamptonville; a brother, Jack "Sonny" Daye and wife Lois of Holden Beach; two sisters, Mary Banner and husband Reg of Jonesville, Lucille Furches of Farmington; five grandchildren, Adam Paul and wife Melanie, Ken Paul, Logan Haynes, Seth Haynes and Jake Haynes; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 29, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Jonesville First Baptist Church by Rev. Roger Hensley and Dr. Leon Smith. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. A private committal service will be held at Fall Creek Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Foothills, 4-A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407 or to Jonesville First Baptist Church, Jonesville, NC 28642.
