Jonesville Mr. Jimmie Lee Couch, age 76, of Haynes Road, Jonesville passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Couch was born September 9, 1930 in Wilkes County to Johnny & Lucille Robbins Couch. Mr. Couch retired from Beroth Oil Company and was the past president of J & J Oil Company. He was a US Army veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Couch was a former mayor of Jonesville and a former Jonesville Town Commissioner. Mr. Couch served on the Yadkin Valley Bank Jonesville Advisory Board for 36 years and was a member of the Elkin/Jonesville Lions Club. He was the precinct chairman of the North Knobs Republican Party and was involved in the state and local levels of the Republican Party. He was instrumental in the planning and developing of numerous building projects in the Town of Jonesville. He served on the state steering committee under Governor Jim Holshauser and served on the state gas and oil inspections board of North Carolina. He was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church and attended Arlington First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Howell Couch of the home; two sons, Tim Couch and wife Pat, Tony Couch all of Elkin; a daughter, Beth Wyatt and husband Bryan of Jonesville; a sister, Emma Jean Carter of Elkin; one grandson, Justin Wyatt and fiance Kelly Collins of Jonesville. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 18, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jerry Fugate and Rev. Don Ball. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
