Ronda Mrs. Nellie Pardue Harris, 92, passed away Saturday October 8, 2011 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Harris was born October 13, 1918 in Wilkes County to Everette M. and Estelle Sale Pardue. Mrs. Harris was a member of Maple Springs United Methodist Church and a charter member of Maple Springs United Methodist Women's Circle. She was also a member of the women's home demonstration club. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Fred Harris, a brother Lester Pardue and a sister Marie Casstevens. Survivors include; a son, Jimmy Harris and his wife Marie of Jonesville, a daughter, Sylvia Harris Smith and husband John of Fayetteville, GA, two grandchildren, Rick Harris and wife Jami of Elkin, Bill Harris and wife Jenny of Hudson, four great grandchildren, Michael L. Harris, Kaily Harris, J. Michael Harris, Elizabeth N. Harris, two brothers, Robert Pardue of Ronda, Junior Pardue of Mooresville, two sisters, Mary Drum and Judy Pardue both of Hickory. Funeral services will be held Tuesday October 11, 2011 at 2pm at Maple Springs United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Rex Cranfill. Mrs. Harris will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the committal service in the church fellowship hall. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Pleasant Hill First Responders and the staff of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital ER and ICU units for the care given to Mrs. Harris. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Maple Springs United Methodist Church.
