Curtis Blane Settle

Curtis Blane Settle, 51 of Elkin, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2010. Mr. Settle was born December 3, 1958 in Surry County to Lawrence Clifton and Bessie Absher Settle. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and was self employed as a construction worker. In addition to his father, Mr. Settle was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Opal Settle Smith and a brother, Dale Clifton Settle. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Cheek Settle of the home; his mother, Bessie Absher Settle of Ronda; a son, Curtis Shawn Settle of Elkin; a daughter, Alicia Settle Billings and husband Casey of Roaring River; four brothers, Leon Lawrence Settle and wife Barbara of Ronda, Harley Settle and wife Vivian of Roaring Gap, Keith Edward Settle of Ronda, and John Wayne Settle and wife Cindy of Ronda; two sisters, Linda Holleman of Ronda and Lola Prevette and husband Nathan of Ronda; and four grandchildren, Daniel Combs, Hannah Settle, Adam Settle, and Caleb Billings. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday February 17, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Bauguess Family Cemetery with Rev. Dwayne Lankford officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Elkin Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Bill Wright, Wayne Coe, Alton Holloway, Allan Triplett, Curtis Triplett, Mike Wood, Jerry Harris, and Jimmy Church. Curtis loved choldren and the family requests, that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brenner's Children's Hopsital, WFUBMC c/o Cindy Mahn, Childlife Department, Medial Center Blvd., Winston Salem, NC 27157.
