Elkin Mrs. Nyoaka Sue Collins, age 61, of Edwards Lakeview Drive, Elkin passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Collins was born June 1, 1946 in Surry County to John Wesley & Ollie Mae Williams Tucker. Mrs. Collins was employed at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where she was in the choir. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Timmy Collins and a brother, Melvin Tucker. Survivors include: her husband Tip Collins of the Home; two sons, Danny Collins of Elkin and Randy Collins and wife Lori of Roaring River; a daughter, Sandra Martin and husband Steve of Elkin; two brothers, Carl Tucker of Lexington, Johnny Tucker of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Frances Triplett of Elkin, Irene Sebastian of Roaring River; six grandchildren, Amanda Collins, Brittany Collins, Ethan Collins, Wesley Martin, Luke Martin and T.J. Collins; a special friend, Joyce Nabors. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church by Rev. Dan Merritt and Rev. John Attaway. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Collins will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Nicholas Robinson, Dr. Al Castillejo, Dr. Chris Thomas, T.I.C.U Critical Care Nurses, Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital Family and Dr. Christopher Connely. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital Foundation, 180 Parkwood Dr, Elkin, NC 28621; or to the Forsyth Regional Cancer Center 3333 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
