Ronda Mr. Ernest Everett Parks, age 71, of Leeman Walls Road, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Parks was born November 7, 1933 in Georgia to John Alvin Clarence & Onie Belle O'Kelley Parks. Mr. Parks was retired from Culp Inc and was a member of Homeland Park Baptist Church both in Anderson, SC. He was a veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Paul Parks, a sister, Edna Nell Parks and a granddaughter, Gina Parks. Survivors include: his wife, Ola Shelton Parks of the home; a son, Michael A. Parks of Liberty S.C.; two stepsons, Lonnie W. Shelton and wife Judy of Elkin, A. Gilbert Shelton and wife Sue of Fort Mills, SC; three daughters, Terri Cobb and husband Dennis of Anderson, SC, Cindy Pruitt and husband Hal of Sandy Springs, SC, Nancy Plummer and husband Robert of Bloomington, IN; a sister, Carolyn Spears of Jefferson, GA.; six grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; one great grandchild; seven step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 11, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church by Rev. Wesley Smith. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church The family would like to thank the staff of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital 3rd floor and to all that befriended the family through this time.
