State Road Mr. Conrad L. Gambill, age 90, of Country Club Road, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Gambill was born October 4, 1918 in Keysville, VA to Samuel & Phoebe Handy Gambill. Mr. Gambill was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and was retired from Chatham Manufacturing. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, and five sisters. Survivors include: his wife of 71 years, Lizzie Adams Gambill of the home; two daughters, Jane Wishon and husband Edwin of N. Wilkesboro, Bonnie Melton and husband Doug of Elkin; one grandchild, John Wishon and wife Jackie; special friend, Abram Rivera. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church by Rev. Steve Kramm and Rev. John Wishon. The family will receive friends 1:00-2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Poplar Springs Baptist Church Building Fund.
