Mrs. Esther Mae Settle Holbrook, age 95, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Holbrook was born May 30, 1915 in Wilkes County to Clifton and Flossie Lyons Settle. Mrs. Holbrook retired from Senior Care of Wilkes and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by five brothers; Clarence Settle, Lawrence Settle, Harvey Settle, Ray Settle, and Mack Settle. Survivors include her husband Luther E. Holbrook; four sons, Frank Holbrook and his wife Brenda of Kernersville, Jerry Holbrook and his wife Charlotte of Yadkinville, Gale Holbrook and his wife Diane of Ronda, Danny Holbrook and his wife Debbie of Rockingham; four daughters, Irene Collins and her husband Junior, Janie Wilmoth and her husband David, Ann Moore and her husband Archie all of Elkin, Sylvia Holbrook of West Jefferson; four brothers. Clyde Settle of Salisbury, Jack Settle of Granite Falls, Davis Lee Settle of Winston Salem, Avery Settle of Elkin, one sister Zeola Holbrook of Ronda; seventeen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. A funeral service for Mrs. Holbrook will be held at 4:00pm Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel, conducted by Rev. Phillip Moore and Rev. Danny Dodds. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:30 - 4:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
