Ray Snow Nixon

August 12, 1928 — May 10, 2004

State Road Mr. Ray Snow Nixon, age 75, of Calloway Lane, State Road, passed away Monday, May 10, 2004 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. Nixon was born August 12, 1928 in Surry County to James Patterson & Charlotte Snow Nixon. Mr. Nixon was a retired military veteran after serving in the US Army and Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Reece Nixon, Talmadge Nixon, Orville Nixon, Billy Nixon and Worth Nixon; two sisters, Mary Lee Walters and Ruth Fortune. Survivors include: three sisters, Imogene Carter and Doris Gentry both of State Road, Nancy Reed of Roanoke, Va. A graveside service with military honors by VFW post 2019 Mt. Airy and Post 9436 Pilot Mountain will be held Friday, May 14, 2004 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Steve Kramm. The family will receive friends following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the donor's choice. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Nixon family.
