State Road Mr. Raymond Wilson Johnson, age 89, of Grassy Creek Drive, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2006 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Johnson was born December 20, 1916 in Forsyth County to John Foster & Annie Golden Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. He retired from Chatham Manufacturing in 1986 and from D-Rex Pharmacy in 2002. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. Survivors include: his wife, Alice M. Johnson of the home; a son, Lanny Johnson and wife Sandra of McMinnville, TN; a daughter, Susan Morrison and husband David of Elkin; grandchildren, Scott Johnson and wife Jennifer of Signal Mountain, TN, Alice Morrison of Clinton, Sarah Morrison of Vac, Hungary, John Morrison of Chapel Hill; step grandchildren, Michele VanParys of Jacksonville, FL, Michael VanParys and wife Lisa of Murfreesboro, TN; great grandchildren, Emma and Luke Johnson of Signal Mountain, TN; step great grandchild, Lindsey VanParys of Murfreesboro, TN. A graveside service will be held Sunday, April 23, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. at Elkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Johnny Blevins followed by a memorial service in the Church Sanctuary at 4:00 p.m. Mr. Johnson will lie instate Saturday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. and Sunday Morning prior to the service at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to World Hunger through Elkin Valley Baptist Church.
