Jonesville, NC Mrs. Tommie Jacqueline "Jackie" Bates Holbrook, age 64, of Briarwood Lane, Jonesville, passed away in her home August 3, 2006. She was born in Surry County on July 30, 1942 to Tommy "Peg" & Nellie Eldridge Bates. Jackie was a cook and worked at several different area restaurants and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Corina Bates, a brother, Bobby Bates. She is survived by her sister Linda Hinson of Elkin, two special nephews, Gayland Bates and wife Lorene of State Road; Turk Akbas and wife Susie of State Road. Multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; six special friends, Elizabeth Winebarger, Linda Winebarger, Regina Copeland, Trish Lee, Betty Pickett and Nancy Sloop. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 6, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jerry Sparks. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
