Roaring River Mrs. Shelby Jean Wood, age 68, of Peoples Tabernacle Road, passed away, Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at Wilkes Senior Village. Mrs. Wood was born April 8, 1937 in Wilkes County to Buster & Valley Wood Porter. Mrs. Wood was a homemaker and a member of Peoples Baptist Tabernacle in Roaring River. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy Vaughn Wood; a brother, L.D. Porter; two sisters, Willine Hawkins and Shirley Porter. Survivors include: a son, Ronnie Wood and wife Norma of Roaring River; a daughter, Linda Hamm and husband Gary of Roaring River; a sister, Rosa Lee Roberts of Wilbar; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Ronda Cemetery by Rev. Randall Money. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Peoples Baptist Tabernacle Building Fund, 172 Peoples Tabernacle Road, Roaring River, NC 28669.
