Elkin Mr. Frank Parker Curtis, Jr., age 62, of Hendrix Street, passed away, Monday, May 16, 2005 at his residence. Mr. Curtis was born January 20, 1943 in Surry County to Frank P. & Mozelle Dorris Durham Curtis, Sr. Mr. Curtis retired from Applied Materials and was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam Era. He was stationed on the USS Hornet and was part of the recovery team of Apollo 11. He was one of two pilots chosen to fly moon rocks to Johnson Island. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: Three sons; Michael Curtis, Eric Curtis, Marc Curtis. Two brothers; Jim Curtis and Joe Curtis. Five grandchildren; Mykala Curtis, Michael Curtis, Jr. Gabriel Curtis, Nathan Curtis, Andrew Curtis. Funeral services will be held Friday May 20, 2005 at 11 am at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 9-11 am prior to the service. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens.
