Mr. Clinton Jones Holcomb, Jr., age 83 of Jonesville, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born June 13, 1927 in Yadkin County to Clinton Jones and Rosa Sprouse Holcomb, Sr. Mr. Holcomb was an active member of Jonesville United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. He was a member of Jonesville Volunteer Fire Department and a past member of the Lions Club and meals on Wheels. Mr. Holcomb was retired from Chatham Manufacturing after 40 years of service and served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: his wife, Mary Edwards Holcomb of the home; sons Kyle Jeffery Holcomb of Wilmington and Charles Gregory Holcomb and his wife Sherry of Elkin, daughter Patti Ann Holcomb-Griffin and her husband Guy of Swannonoa, brother Wesley Holcomb and his wife Jo Ann of Jonesville; five grandchildren Brittany Holcomb, Caroline Holcomb, Nicholas Holcomb, Julia Holcomb, and Caleb Griffin. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, November 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Jonesville United Methodist Church with Rev. Dale Swafford and Rev. Joe Fulk officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery in Baldwin. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00-8:00- p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family requests that memorials be made to Jonesville United Methodist Church Building Fund, 311 West Main Street, Jonesville, NC 28642.
