Thurmond Mr. Boyd A. Shores, age 92 of Thurmond, passed away Tuesday, November 06, 2007 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. He was born May 13, 1915 in Surry County to Dan & Alice Calloway Shores. Boyd was retired from Elkin Furniture and he was a member of Charity Hill Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He loved his family and church family and also enjoyed fishing and hunting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Hayes Shores; a daughter, Betty Jean Shores. Survivors include: a son, Lester Ray Shores and wife Hattie of Thurmond; a daughter, Juanita Harrison and husband John of State Road; three sisters-in-law, Ruby Holyfield, Marie Shores both of Elkin, Addie Shores of State Road; three grandchildren, Tim Shores and wife Isabelle, Paul Shores and wife Ginger, Greg Shores and wife Angela all of Thurmond; eight great grandchildren, Shannon Brown, Jenny Shores, Andrew Shores, Emily Akers, Nathan Shores, Daniel Shores, Tara Shores, Dana Shores; three great-great grandchildren, Brody Shores, Riley Belle Shores and Cheridon Akers. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 9, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Charity Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Brian Cardwell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Shores will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Charity Hill Baptist Church.
