Mr. Alex G. Dorsett, age 81, of Houston, Texas formerly of Elkin, NC passed away Sunday, July 25, 2004 in Houston. Mr. Dorsett was born April 27, 1923 in Surry County to Roby & Lessie Eidson Dorsett. He was a retired sheet metal worker and co-owned a successful catering business in East Houston. Survivors include: his former wife, Velma Dorsett; a daughter, Norma Dorsett Markel; a son, Norman Robert Dorsett; stepson, Stephen W. Beeth; grandchildren, Michael & Krystyna Beeth, Tyler & Haley Markel and Olivier & Nicholas Chausonnet-Dorsett, all of Texas; brothers, Ralph Dorsett and wife Ollie of Boonville, Fred Dorsett and Wife Dot of Moorehead City; sisters, Willie Mae Corder and husband John of Elkin, Joann Day and husband Lloyd of Cherryville. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 31, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Hollywood Cemetery by Dr. Bill Johnson. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Dorsett family.
