Sammy Clay Harris

Thurmond Mr. Sammy Clay Harris, age 55, of Possum Trot Valley Road, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at Northern Surry Hospital. Mr. Harris was born February 4, 1950 in Surry County to Grady W. & Olene Perry Harris. Mr. Harris was a Department Manager of Shipping at Chatham Manufacturing and was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the N.C. Army National Guard and served for 29 years at the unit in Elkin. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: his wife, Michelle Stottsberry Harris of the home; a son, Jonathan Harris of PA; a stepson, Nicolas Padron of NY City; two daughters, Andrea Harris and Anna Harris both of the home; three brothers, Charlie W. Harris; Jerry A. Harris and wife April all of Thurmond; Michael S. Harris of State Road; a sister, Judy H. Baker and husband Jeff of Thurmond. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 17, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Union Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Greg Simmons. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Harris will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Friday night from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
