High Point Mrs. Nell Carter, age 92, of Midview Drive, passed away, Thursday, October 27, 2005 at Westwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Carter was born February 22, 1913 in Wilkes County to Willard Harvey & Annie Higgins Wilson. Mrs. Carter was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Reynolds High School and was a member of Elkin First Baptist Church for 66 years where she was a member of the choir for over 50 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Turner Carter who passed away April 3, 1983. Survivors include: a son, Bob Carter of High Point; two daughters, Anne Hicks of Colfax, Lynda Carter Totten of Sanford; seven grandchildren, Rev. Dr. Mark Hicks of Jamestown, Leanne Gray of Summerfield, Dwan Mitchell of Charlotte, Russell Totten of Chicago, Roland Totten of San Jose, Ca., Gayle Carter of High Point, Brian Carter of Seattle, Wa.; seven great grandchildren, Kevin Gray and Stephanie Gray both of Summerfield, Sarah Hicks and Emily Hicks both of Jamestown, Kaleigh Mitchell and Gregory Mitchell both of Charlotte; Veronika Totten, Chicago, Ill. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin First Baptist Church by Dr. Bill Johnson. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery. Mrs. Carter will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends thirty minutes following the service in the fellowship hall. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Carter family.
