Zelda Mae Barker

May 29, 1921 — April 14, 2006

Mrs. Zelda Mae Barker, age 84 of Johnson Ridge Road passed away Friday April 14, 2006 at Elkin Health Care. Mrs. Barker was born in Surry County May 29 1921 to Haywood and Vilener Wall Barker. Mrs. Barker was retired from Washington Mill and was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Haywood Barker Jr. Survivors include a daughter; Dorothy B. Wagoner of Elkin, one sister Lillian Cockerham of Dobson, two grandchildren Marti Willard and husband Randy, Traci Wagoner, and one great grandchild Caitlin Martin. Three nephews, a special care giver Bertha Branch of Dobson, and special friends Mary Lee Bauguess, and Marie Wagoner. Funeral services will be conducted Monday April 17, 2006 at 2:00pm at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Glinard Lawson, Rev Bobby Swaim and Rev. Spencer King. Burial will follow at Mt. Herman Baptist Church Cemetery in Dobson. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7-9 pm at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Feed the Elderly Program of Elkin, Mt. Herman Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
