Mr. John Dennis Barker, age 75, of Hoots Road passed away Saturday, July 21 2007 at Britthaven of Wilkesboro. Mr. Barker was born September 6, 1931 in Wilkes County to James Marcus and Anne Holbrook Barker. Mr. Barker was a retired carpenter and farmer; he was a member of Oak Level Baptist, and a past Boy Scout Leader in Wilkes County. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his first wife Jenny Yarboro Barker, his second wife, Ella Sue Anderson Barker, and a brother Walter Buford Barker. Survivors include; his mother, Anne Holbrook Barker of Elkin; two sons, Eddie Barker and his wife Ginger of Wilkesboro, and Barry Barker of South Carolina; one daughter, Dennie Carter and her husband Garry of Ronda, and a special sister in-law, Jean Barker. Six grandchildren, Crystal Campbell and her husband Jonathan, Ricky Carter and his wife Dehia, Jennifer Church and her husband Chad, Daniel Barker, B.J. Barker and his wife Amanda, Chris Barker; three step grandchildren, Tony Young Jr., Jason Wade Young, and Crystal Ann Young; and sixteen great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Barker will be held at 11:00am Tuesday July 24, 2007 at Oak Level Baptist Church conducted by Rev. James Hall and Rev. Elmer Barker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Barker will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8pm at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Oak Level Baptist Church Building Fund
