Ila Mae White

State Road Mrs. Ila Mae White, age 85, of Adams Ridge Road, passed away, Monday, May 30, 2005 at Elkin Healthcare. Mrs. White was born February 4, 1920 in Surry County to U.J. & Mary Cooke Marshall. Mrs. White was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Thurmond Marshall, Odell Marshall and Leo Marshall; two sisters, Opal Smith and Evon Jenkins. Survivors include: her husband of 70 years, Opie White of the home; three sons, Donnie White and wife Linda of Germanton, Gary White of Carolina Beach, Opie White, Jr. and wife Carolyn of Ft. Worth, Tex.; a daughter, Gail Sparks and husband David; four grandchildren, Craig White of Rural Hall, Sandy White of Carolina Beach, Melissa Neidhart and husband Craig of Plano, Tex.; Stephanie Carrell and husband Patrick of Springtown, Tex.; a great grandchild, Kaycee Neidhart of Plano, Tex. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. John Attaway. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the donor's choice.
