Ralph Edward Lawrence

Elkin Mr. Ralph Edward Lawrence, age 80, of N. Bridge Street, passed away Monday, June 14, 2004 at Yadkin Nursing Center. Mr. Lawrence was born May 29, 1924 in Surry County to Thomas Settle & Mary Pricilla Holcomb Lawrence. Mr. Lawrence was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II. He was retired from McLean Trucking and was a member of Elkin First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include: a brother, Bob Lawrence of Elkin; four sisters, Betty Madacsi of Boonville, Mildred Luffman, Opal Transou and Beulah Lawrence all of Elkin. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 17, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin First Baptist Church by Rev. Joe Dell Rust. Burial will follow at Elkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Lawrence will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Wednesday 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to donor's choice. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Lawrence family.
