Elkin Mr. Paul Martin Sexton, Sr. age 91, of Austin Traphill Road, passed away Monday, March 06, 2006 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mr. Sexton was born September 24, 1914 in Wilkes County to William Martin & Elvira Sidden Sexton. Mr. Sexton was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church and Benham Ruritan Club. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during WWII where he received a purpled heart while serving in the South Pacific. Paul was retired from Chatham Manufacturing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Sexton; two sisters, Elva Sexton Kent and Edna Cothern. Survivors include: his wife, Frieda Dobbins Sexton of the home; a son, Paul Martin Sexton, Jr. and wife Denise of High Point; two daughters, Dale Sexton Osmus and husband Rich of State Road, Cathy Sexton Swaim and husband John of East Bend; two sisters, Annie Sexton Eads of Birmingham, AL, Iris Sexton Byrd of Elkin; seven grandchildren, Lynn Stanley Price of Four Oaks, NC, Neil Swaim of Statesville, Brent Stanley of Elkin, Shawn Swaim of Yadkinville, Melinda Sexton, Elizabeth Pace and Andrew Sexton all of High Point; five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Russ Nixon. Burial will follow at Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 p.m.-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
