Robert Samuel Lawrence

March 17, 1928 — May 27, 2007

Mr. Robert "Bob" Samuel Lawrence age 79 of Oakland Drive passed away Sunday May 27, 2007 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Lawrence was born March 17, 1928 in Surry County to Thomas Settle and Mary Holcomb Lawrence. Mr. Lawrence was retired from Chatham Manufacturing Company; he was a member of Elkin First Baptist Church, and also a member of the Lyons Club. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Jean Eidson Lawrence, five brothers, Odell Lawrence, Orville Lawrence, Roy Lawrence, Ralph Lawrence, Hubert Lawrence; four sisters, Grace McCoin, Bulah Lawrence, Opal Transou, Evon Lawrence. Survivors include; two sons, Paul Lawrence and Sam Lawrence both of Winston Salem, two sisters, Mildred Luffman of Elkin, Betty Madacsi of Boonville, three sister in-laws Sarah Eidson, Sylvia Eidson both of Elkin and Louise Moxley of Boonville and a host of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 10:30am Tuesday May 29, 2007 at Hollywood Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am at Elkin First Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Bill Johnson and Rev. Rebecca Maynard. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church. In liew of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Elkin First Baptist Church, 110 Gwyn Ave. Elkin NC 28621, or the donors choice. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Yadkin Valley Adult Medicine, Yadkin Valley Home Health, and the staff at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.
