Eunice Rovella Bruce

August 1, 1911 — July 27, 2004

Elkin Mrs. Eunice Rovella Poage Bruce, age 92, of Carter Mill Road, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at Elkin Healthcare. Mrs. Bruce was born August 1, 1911 in Roanoke, Va. to Oscar Cabell & Nora Elmore Simpson Poage. Mrs. Bruce was a homemaker and a charter member of Grassy Creek United Methodist Church and was a member of United Methodist Women. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Bruce. Survivors include: two sons, William B. Bruce and wife Carole of Elkin, Buddy Bruce and wife Carol of Ronda; three daughters, Martha Parrish and husband Jack of Jonesville, Tommie Carol Burchette and husband Tommy of N. Wilkesboro, Kathy Bruce of Clemmons; eleven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 30, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Grassy Creek United Methodist Church by Rev. Mike Harrell, Rev. Jim Prichard and Rev. Darrell Tate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Grassy Creek United Methodist Church Building Fund. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Elkin Healtcare for the special care giving to our mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Bruce family.
