Mona J. Tweedy 71 resident of St. Maries, ID died Feb. 24, 2010 at her home at St. Maries following a courageous 3 year battle with cancer. She was born May 16, 1938 to Harvey and Nellie Marlett Skeels at Colville, WA She grew up in Colville and was a graduate of Colville High School. She married Joseph R. Tweedy on Nov. 12, 1955 at Coeur d' Alene, ID They made their home at Colville where she was a homemaker and raised her family. She moved to Dayton, WA in 1964 and continued to be a homemaker. She moved to St. Maries, ID in 1969. She worked as a sales clerk for Mike's Drug Store. She and her family moved to Republic, WA in 1980 where she worked for the local school district as a reading teacher. While at Republic, she attended Colville Comm. College and received her Associate of Arts Degree in Pharmacy Tech. Returning to St. Maries in the fall of 1982, she went to work for Jack's Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Tech. She also worked as a home health care provider and a substitute teacher for the St. Maries School District. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren playing sports. She was an avid reader and enjoyed camping and spending time on the St .Maries River at the family river lot. She was a member of the St. Maries Eagles Auxiliary, the St. Maries High School Booster club and had served as a Foster Parent. She is survived by her husband Joe at the family home. Also surviving are her son's and daughters-in-law Bob and Michelle Tweedy and Doug and Karen Tweedy all of Spokane, WA Mike and Kathy Tweedy and Pat and Gayla Tweedy all of St. Maries and her daugher and son-in-law Joanna and Larry Dahlkey of St. Maries. Also surviving are her brothers Alvin, Timothy and Randy Skeels all of Colville, Wa, Donald Skeels of St. Maries and Tom Skeels of Lewiston, ID. She is also survived by sisters Donna Cunningham of St. Maries and Annette Watson of Springdale, WA. As well as 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son Daniel Tweedy and brothers Chester and Harvey Skeels. Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. At Hodge Funeral Home, St .Maries with Pastor Judy Olson officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow services at the St. Maries Eagles Lodge.
