Dorothy Lyon Harris

Elkin, Mrs. Dorothy Mae Lyon Harris, age 91 of Elkin, passed away Friday, November 5, 2010. She was born October 12, 1919 in Wilkes County to Commie and Luray Hawkins Lyon. Mrs. Harris was a member of Knobbs Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son James Harris. Survivors include her husband Raymond W. Harris of the home; son Wayne Harris and wife Linda of Forest City; adopted son Denver Ledbetter and Melissa Billings of Austin; daughters Carol Collins of Elkin and Lorene Sill and husband David of Joplin, MO.; daughter-in-law Arlene Harris of North Wilkesboro; brother Rev. Amos Lyon and wife Lois of Elkin, sister Rose Lee Collins of Ronda; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Knobbs Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Bauguess and Rev. Amos Lyon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the church. The family requests that memorials be made to Knobbs Baptist Church, Care of Cathy Wood, 3059 King Billings Road, Traphill, NC 28685.
