Elkin Mr. James Ellis Harp, age 100, of Masonic Drive passed away Sunday November 20, 2005 at Elkin Healthcare Center. Mr. Harp was born November 15, 1905 in Surry County to James William and Alice Bell Harp. Mr. Harp was a retired WWII veteran of the United States Army and the United States Marine Corp. During his service he served in the Pacific Fleet, Nicaragua in 1928 and in Shang High China during 1931-1934. Mr. Harp was a member of Elkin/Jonesville VFW and was proud of the fact that he walked actively at the Elkin Recreation Park until age 86. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Harp, two brothers, Tom and Raymond Harp, a sister Maggie Alexander. Survivors include: Special cousins, Ralph and Irene Harp of Elkin. An adopted Grandson, Jonathan Money of Elkin. Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday November 22, 2005 at 11 am at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dwayne Byrd. Burial will follow in Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday 7-8:30 pm at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
