Joann Jane Hayes

March 11, 1934 — January 29, 2008

Elkin Mrs. Joann Jane Hayes, age 73, of Lyles Street, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Hayes was born March 11, 1934 in Surry County to Conley & Pearl Sneed Burton. Mrs. Hayes was retired from Vaughn Bassett and was a member of Salem Fork Christian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death September 2004 by her husband, Curtis Charles Hayes; and a brother, Matthew Burton. Survivors include: a son, Tony Curtis Hayes and wife Rebecca of Jonesville; two daughters, Joyce Cothren and husband Wyman, Patricia Walker and husband Ricky all of State Road; three brothers, Leroy Burton and wife Mary Ann, Billy Burton and wife Faye, Alfred Burton and wife Betty Jo all of Elkin; a sister, Iva Jean White and husband Alfred all of Elkin; five grandchildren, one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Fork Christian Church by Rev. Don Hudson. Burial will follow at Salem Fork Christian Church. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
