Elkin Mr. G. Wayne Waddell, age 60, of Austin Traphill Road, passed away Monday, June 4, 2007 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Waddell was born July 26, 1946 in Iredell County to Steve & Bertha Hemric Waddell. Mr. Waddell was a retired insurance agent and an active member of Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church where he was an ordained deacon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Wayne Waddell. Survivors include: his wife, Frieda Tilley Waddell of the home; three sons, G. Randell Waddell and wife Kristy of Union Grove, Steven D. Waddell and wife Angela of Elkin, Jamie L. Waddell and wife Nicole of Elkin; three brothers, Richard Waddell and wife, Ivy of Elm City, NC, Bill Waddell and wife JoAnn of Morganton, Ray Waddell and wife Shirley of Jonesville; a sister, Edna Mendenhall of Jonesville; five special grandchildren, Joseph Matthew Waddell, Laura McKenzie Waddell, Kelsey Marie Waddell; Ethan Michael Waddell and Lilliann Elizabeth Waddell. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 8, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church by Rev. Wesley Smith and Rev. Danny Moore. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Waddell will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
